THE DAY THE FOOTBALL DIED GOVERNOR CUOMO "YOU MOTHERFUCKER" Science and experience have shown that you do not catch COVID on an open field. All summer long kids were holding four way 7v7s with four schools present on the field at the same time. They were student led. Sixty kids on the field. No one got COVID. These kids get good grades; stay out of trouble; and are well mannered. Why? Because football has given them discipline, structure, goal setting; and team work. And many brothers. The lip service given to the Black Lives Matter movement is belied by the fact that the State of New York has taken thousands of African American boys/young men of the football fields and back onto the mean streets. Talk of unity in highly segregated Long Island the only place young black men and young white men meet is on the field. And they love each other even as they compete against each other.
