JUST LET THE BOYS PLAY LEE ZELDIN: MAKE IT HAPPEN


LEE ZELDIN YOU ARE MY CONGRESSMAN: CALL THE SUFFOLK COUNTY LEGISLATURE; CALL THE SUFFOLK COUNTY EXECUTIVE -- "LET US PLAY FOOTBALL NOW"

No politics.  Let us set that aside.  Congressman Zeldin you are the Congressman.  You have the power.  Call the legislature and the Executive in Suffolk County.  Tell them to let the kids play football.

I have coached kids in Smithtown from the age of six.  They are entering their senior years.  Both East and West.  They are all my boys.  They have worked so hard for this.  They should be finishing up two a day practices now and having their first game scrimmages.  But they are home or out somewhere.  They are depressed.  They have grown up to be fine young men.  All of them have good grades.  They are going on to college.  Some are joining the military and some are headed toward our military service academies.

They kept their end of the bargain.  But we have not.

Why are they such fine boys.  The discipline.  The hard work.  The team work.  The loyalty.  All of it came from a structured world of football.  Parent coaches have looked out for them.  Now school coaches look out for them.  Their friends look out for them.  During most of their lives if they went astray there was someone there to straighten them up.  Each of them has multiple brothers, fathers and uncles to keep them on the straight and narrow.

They don't take drugs.  They do not drink.  They study.

Football did that.

Now we've found out that there probably will not be any football season.  We are missing practice.

Why.  We all know the truth.  Even the scientists.  They will not catch Covid playing football.  They are outside.  The virus immediately dissipates.  If they are going to catch the virus it will likely be someplace that they are at because they are not on the football field.

They will catch it at a mall when they normally would have been on a field.  They will catch it at a party when normally they would be in bed early to make early morning practices and games.

You are taking the structure right out of their lives when you take away their football.  You are taking the excitement out of their lives when you take away their football.  What evil will fill that void I ask you.

Congressman Zeldin please take action.  I don't care if I win or lose.  I want my boys to play football.
